“The LGBTQ+ community is vibrant within my college, but is being drowned out when it comes to identity”

Transcript

I go to college and they’re aware, but because of funding they had to stop the LGBTQ+ club. Just because of funding and possibly because my school is in a right-wing borough. Not saying everyone who is LGBTQ+ can’t be right-wing, but I know, and I’m very political, that the Conservative (now Conservative/Unionist party) don’t represent the needs of the LGBTQ+ community as much as others and because of that, they’ve most likely cut it.

Because my college is also very right-wing when it comes to members of staff. The majority of them don’t really care that much. It’s got to the point where the LGBTQ+ community is vibrant within my college, but is being drowned out when it comes to identity. Reasons because a lot of the people… because it isn’t noticed. There isn’t any notice of ‘Hi, I’m so and so, I’m gay’ That’s within your little classes and groups and it’s not spread unless you choose to do that.
